At noon on Saturday, 10 June, good old swing performed by the CZU Life Orchestra welcomed the first graduates who arrived to the CZU Prague – Suchdol campus. Approximately four and a half thousand came to CZU during the afternoon.
The garden party took place throughout the university campus. Graduates could look into labs and classrooms, walk through the park, greenhouses and demonstration stables. From the roofs of the newest pavilions, visitors could enjoy views of Prague and plan which buildings of the faculties they were still going to go see.
Meanwhile, a cultural program was held on two stages in the middle of the campus, which culminated with the performance of bands Žlutý pes, Portless and in the evening with a performance by Lucie Bílá and the Petr Malásek band. Pony rides and creative workshops were prepared for children near the Poníček university kindergarten, and booths with promotional items and snacks were prepared for visitors. The largest lines were at the stand where beer was poured from the university teaching brewery, and where wine from the university vineyards in Chloumek near Mělník was tasted.
“This was an opportunity to build on the good things that we have experienced and created together, and to develop new ideas,” says prof. Ing. Jiří Balík, CSc., dr. h. c., who also praised the support of three dozen partners of the event from agricultural cooperatives and other companies from across the Czech Republic.
The Garden Party for Graduates and Friends of CZU was first organized last year. According to the Coordinator of the Graduate Club, doc. Ing. Petr Heřmánek, Ph.D., who prepared the event, ten times as many visitors came this year. Many of them also joined the Graduate Club. In the twenty-five years since 1992, 62,000 students have graduated from CZU.
