Christmas wish from Rector Petr Sklenička

Dear Students, Dear Colleagues,

I am glad that I am preparing this year's Christmas wish at the end of the winter semester, in which we were able to teach primarily in person. This meant that the usual and enjoyable activity lasted throughout the semester in the classrooms, lecture halls, laboratories, workshops, and campus. It is an integral part of the university that we missed.

I consider it a massive success that we have been able to meet here again to an almost usual extent, and I am incredibly pleased about it. I would like to thank you all for your cooperation and consideration - studying and working under the conditions set by our pandemic situation is not easy. I appreciate your approach, which has undoubtedly contributed to the fact that hybrid teaching has been maintained. I firmly hope that the situation will not worsen in the future and that there will soon be a time when it will be possible to study and teach in the usual way as we were used to before March 2020.

I wish you a beautiful Christmas, just as you wish for it, with those that you love and who love you. I think, and we often hear this, that Christmas is a time when we should be with our loved ones and enjoy their presence, their closeness. A time when we can take a break from worries, whether they are year-round or pre-Christmas. I wish you not to miss the authentic Christmas atmosphere, which is not about hurry, stress, or fear that everything will not be perfect.

I wish you good health and a beautiful year 2022!
