University has obtained institutional accreditation in seven areas of education

Obtaining institutional accreditation in such a wide range of education areas and almost complete representation of types of study programmes is a great success.

In April of this year, the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague submitted an application for institutional accreditation to the National Accreditation Bureau for Higher Education (NAB) for a total of 8 areas of education: Biology, Ecology and the Environment; Economic Sciences; Informatics; Forestry and Logging; the Food Industry; Mechanical Engineering, Technology and Materials; Earth Sciences and Agriculture. In July and August, meetings were held with the NAB to set up evaluation committees and to create a timetable for assessing the application. Between 26 September and 17 October 2018, individual evaluation committees visited our university. On 6 November, the opinions of those commissions, correspondents and the primary evaluation committee were presented, to which CZU then responded.

Subsequently, on 22 November, the final meeting of the NAB Council took place, where institutional accreditation was approved for the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague for:

a) Biology, Ecology and the Environment education including bachelor, master’s and doctoral types of study programmes,
b) Economic Sciences education including bachelor and master’s types of study programmes,
c) Informatics education including bachelor, master’s and doctoral types of study programmes,
d) Forestry and Logging education including bachelor and master’s types of study programmes,
e) Food Industry education including bachelor and master’s types of study programmes,
f) Earth Sciences education including bachelor, master’s and doctoral types of study programmes,
g) Agriculture education, including bachelor, master’s and doctoral types of study programmes.

Due to the fact that University waived its right to an appeal, this NAB decision came into legal force on 30 November 2018.

University took back sub-sections of the application for Engineering, Technology and Materials (all types of study programmes), Economic Sciences (doctoral type of study programmes) and the Food Industry (doctoral type of study programmes) so that they could be supplemented and submitted again in the foreseeable future.

Obtaining institutional accreditation in such a wide range of education areas and almost complete representation of types of study programmes is a great success. Institutional accreditation grants to a university the authority to independently develop and carry out study programmes in a specific field of education. The granting of institutional accreditation is therefore a certain measure of the quality of a given university and provides greater autonomy and flexibility in the creation and adaptation of study programmes.
