The full-grown Japanese pagoda tree now standing in front of the Interfaculty Centre for Environmental Sciences II
You might have seen something a bit out-of-the-ordinary at the Czech University of Life Sciences campus on Thursday 19th April. After all, work began on replanting a full-grown Japanese pagoda tree first thing in the morning.
The tree had grown right beside the auditorium building, which is set to undergo repair work. Although the original project counted on having the tree felled, an alternative was found and the tree was saved. The replanted pagoda tree now stands in front of the Interfaculty Centre for Environmental Sciences II, with this site having been chosen by garden architects from the Czech University of Life Sciences in line with the overall concept of handling greenery on campus.
Students from the relevant specialisations also watched on as the demanding “operation” was undertaken. A professional firm used special technology for the move, with the entire tree being uprooted and moved to its new home. The process itself took several hours and was followed by completion work. According to experts, the success rate of the method is very high.
