The International Relations Office and the Office of Science, Research and Doctoral Studies of the Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences are launching a call for financial support of research stays abroad (internships).
Come and see the Sea Turtles exhibition in the lobby of the Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences. Learn more about the project that focuses on their conservation. All sea turtle species are threatened with extinction, and the situation is most urgent in the Indian Ocean, where many populations have already disappeared. The "Protecting Sea Turtles" project is trying to change this crisis situation and is working with local organisations to protect beaches in two areas of Indonesia (Lembata Island and Denawan Island) and in the south of Sri Lanka (beaches near Dikwella).
They are working with the Indonesian organisation Sehabat penyu Loang and Pamali Indonesia to protect hatchery beaches on Lembata and Denawan islands. These sites are key hatching grounds for endangered sea turtle species such as giant, green and right whales.
They also spent five years providing protection for turtles on Bilang-bilangan and Mataha islands in Indonesia, which are important hatcheries for giant sea karets in Southeast Asia. In Sri Lanka, they also work with the government there to improve sea turtle conservation and provide recommendations to tourists on how to promote effective conservation.
In addition to visiting the exhibition, you can support sea turtle conservation by learning more about this project and helping us spread awareness of this important issue.
For more information about the project, please visit: https://www.morskezelvy.cz/.
The exhibition will be in the lobby until mid-April.
