Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences Biotic and abiotic degradation of wood in the exterior The lesson is focused on the problem of wood degradation by biotic and abiotic factors. Main biotic damages are caused by wood-destroying fungi, moulds, insects. The main abiotic factors are atmospheric, thermal, and chemical degradation.
