Lump sum projects in Horizon Europe

The European Commission plans to significantly increase the number of calls for projects funded by lump sums.
There is talk that up to 50% of Horizon Europe funding will be lump sums in the future.

The primary purpose of lump-sum funding is to simplify projects. These projects are typical in that there is a fixed amount (lump sum) fixed in the grant agreement for the whole project or individual work packages of the project. These amounts are eligible once all activities planned in the box have been fully implemented by all partners, regardless of the costs incurred. There are no financial audits by the European Commission, so the beneficiaries are not required to keep labor statements, payslips, invoices, travel orders, calculations of eligible personnel costs, etc., for these purposes. The focus is on the completion of scientific tasks.

Understanding this new form of funding is a challenge for researchers, project managers, and research organizations. Particular attention should be paid to it by those interested in project coordination. However, participation in the seminar is also open to all other interested parties.

The seminar will be conducted by Lenka Chvojková and Michal Hlavačka, who are the national contacts for financial, administrative, and legal issues of Horizon Europe at the Technology Centre Prague.
Lenka Bajarová will complement practical experience from the perspective of a lump sum project beneficiary from AMIRES.
