TAČR SEMINAR: Using open source in public administration

The seminar will lead the Director of the TA ČR Office, Martin Bunček, and will include:

  • A short presentation of the BETA2 Programme addresses the resorts' research needs. A demonstration of the results of one of the needs was the development of software under an open-source license, which was implemented by a pilot project. The developers will present the output of this project (open source code), which is being deployed in practice, and show how it is being used specifically.

  • Specific eGovernment software solutions implemented under the BETA2 Programme. Their use by other public and state administration entities. Should these solutions be available (e.g., in the pilot state open source repository, and what could change in this area)?

  • Final discussion on the project design. Here we will answer questions such as: Should the state take such a path? Under what conditions? Is it possible to regulate software development for public administration in any meaningful way, and how to further dispose of this software (maintenance) in a way that makes sense for the taxpayer?

The event's aim is also to find out the interest of potential suppliers (especially developers) as researchers in a possible upcoming project! For this purpose, we will send you a feedback questionnaire after the seminar.
