How to apply

CZU must select you during the final year of your studies. Recent graduate traineeships are administered by our non-profit partner Educa International, o.p.s. Following your nomination, Educa will arrange the required documents with you and conclude your Participant Grant Agreement (PGA).

1. Apply through your faculty while you are still studying.
Contact your faculty’s International Relations Office in your final year; for bachelor’s and master’s students, do so before your state final exams. You do not need to have a confirmed receiving organisation at this stage.
2. CZU forwards your application to Educa.
Educa will contact you with further instructions, the necessary forms and the conditions of funding.
3. Arrange a receiving organisation and complete Educa’s application.
Find the current application form and other documents on Educa’s website. Please use the latest form rather than an old saved copy.
4. Finalise the documents with Educa before departure.
Educa prepares the PGA after receiving all required and confirmed documents. Allow at least 14 days for this step. Check the exact document list and deadlines directly with Educa.

Plans changed? If you decide not to take up the traineeship, please inform Educa by email.

Who is eligible

You become a graduate when you successfully complete your bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral studies. To take part as a recent graduate under Erasmus+, you must be selected while in your final year of study and carry out and complete the traineeship within 12 months of graduation.

12 months per study cycle

The maximum is 12 months of physical Erasmus+ mobility in each study cycle. Mobility already completed during the same cycle counts towards that limit. For example, after an 8-month exchange during a master’s degree, no more than 4 months remain for a recent graduate traineeship in that cycle.

Further or concurrent studies

Planning another degree, or already admitted to one? Discuss your exact dates with your faculty and Educa in advance. Enrolment in another programme during the traineeship may affect eligibility. If you are studying two programmes at once, a traineeship linked to the programme you have completed may be possible after individual assessment; its activities must be relevant to that completed programme.

How to find a receiving organisation

Your host could be a company, research institute, laboratory, university, school, non-profit organisation, farm or another eligible organisation. CZU does not need an inter-institutional agreement with the host. EU institutions and other EU bodies, however, are not eligible receiving organisations for this type of traineeship.

Your tasks should contribute to your professional or personal development. They need not match your degree subject exactly, but there should be a meaningful connection; your faculty decides whether to approve the proposed traineeship. Taking university courses alone does not count as a traineeship.

Browse opportunities

Start with ErasmusIntern, Globalplacement, MyInternship, Training Experience, Workaway and Environment Jobs. For Slovakia, you can also try Placement Slovakia.

Check that an offer is still open and that its activities meet Erasmus+ requirements.

Approach a host directly

Email organisations that interest you and attach your CV. You can use CZU’s email templates, Europass or Canva. Social media can also help you make contact.

Do not give up after one refusal or unanswered message. We recommend contacting several potential hosts, perhaps ten or more.

Duration and financial support

Minimum: 2 months of physical traineeship. Currently funded by Educa: up to 3 months and 0 days. The general Erasmus+ maximum is 12 months per study cycle, but Educa’s shorter funding limit currently applies to this route.

It may be possible to complete more than one recent graduate traineeship if Educa agrees, your remaining Erasmus+ allowance permits it and all traineeships finish within one year of graduation. You must be selected while still in your final year of study. Discuss any such plan with Educa before committing to dates.

Check grant availability, applicable rates and any additional support with Educa for the relevant call before setting your dates.

Health and social insurance

After graduation, ask your health insurance provider who is responsible for your public health insurance and which changes you must report. An Erasmus+ recent graduate traineeship does not automatically mean that the state continues paying your premiums. Rules depend on your country of insurance, age, employment and any further studies. If you are insured in Czechia, see VZP’s guidance on finishing university (in Czech).

Keep in contact with the insurer in your country of insurance and check how your public cover applies abroad. Separate travel insurance normally does not settle your obligations under the public health insurance system. For EU destinations, see the EU guidance on health cover during a traineeship.

Insurance required for the traineeship: Educa requires valid insurance for the entire mobility period in the prescribed scope; traineeship cover includes liability for damage at the workplace. Confirm the policy and evidence Educa requires on its insurance page. If you will be employed abroad or are unsure about social security contributions, check the rules for your destination and contract with the host and the relevant authorities.
