On Sunday, August 11, 2024, CZU researchers traded their labs for the great outdoors, embarking on a one-day trip organized by the Welcome Centre.
The journey began in the morning at the Prague Main Train Station, where we set off for Senohraby. After arriving, we took a scenic 2km walk through a serene forest, which led us to the medieval ruins and beautiful Sázava River. Known as the Golden River, the Sázava is one of the Czech Republic’s most picturesque waterways, beloved by boaters and trampers alike.
After exploring the ruins overlooking the river, we crossed Sázava on a small punt. Once across, the group had plenty of options to enjoy the river. Some dove into the shallow waters for a refreshing swim, while others tried paddleboarding or took a leisurely ride in a small canoe. For those seeking relaxation, the riverside provided the perfect spot for a picnic and some downtime.
We enjoyed plenty of sunshine and a good mood as we took turns with the paddleboard and canoe. And guess who enjoyed the trip the most? Our littlest researchers—the children! They not only had a blast but some even learned to swim during the adventure.
By the end of the day, we were ready to head back to Prague, bringing with us memories of a day well spent. The event was a reminder that sometimes, the best way to recharge is to step away from the usual routine and immerse oneself in water.
The Welcome Centre looks forward to organizing more such events in the future, offering researchers more opportunities to explore, relax, and connect.
Thank you for joining us!
