Programme title: OP Research, Development and Education
Call number: 02_15_003
Call title: Excellent Research Teams
Project title EN: Building up an excellent scientific team and its spatiotechnical background focused on mitigation of the impact of climatic changes to forests from the level of a gene to the level of a landscape at the FFWS CZU Prague
Project title CZ: Vybudování excelentního vědeckého týmu na FLD ČZU v Praze a jeho přístrojově-technického zázemí zaměřeného na mitigaci důsledků klimatických změn v lesích (od úrovně genů po úroveň krajiny)
Project registration number: CZ.02.1.01/0.0/0.0/ 15_003/0000433
Project description
The project aims to build a 17-member team of scientists (key foreign scientist + 15 scientists + technicians), which will form the core of the excellent team as part of the R&D centre even after the project ends. With the help of the project, the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology will provide the necessary modern infrastructure that will enable the acquisition of international projects.
The team is focused on solving current and future problems in forest ecosystems in the Czech Republic caused by climate change and finding scientific solutions to protect forests as carbon sinks. The project emphasises the most important disturbance factors (bark beetles and related abiotic factors - mainly climatic extremes) at three levels:
- Gene (subproject G),
- tree (subproject T),
- landscape (subproject L).
The excellent scientific team aims to conduct research in the following areas:
- Bark beetle-conifer interactions using genomics, transcriptomics and proteomics, together with validation of genetics and metabolomics (chemical ecology) and validation of tree/bark beetle physiology at tree and landscape level. An important output will be the mapping of typical disturbance regimes and the design of mitigation strategies to manage them.
Budget (total eligible expenditures): 246 016 958,53 CZK
