This Year’s Health Days at CZU Will Offer Not Only Preventive Care and Health Education, but Also an Opportunity to Help Children Battling Cancer

On 3 and 4 November 2026, the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (CZU) will once again promote health, disease prevention and a healthy lifestyle. This year’s Health Days will primarily focus on university employees, offering individual medical consultations and health screenings. However, the event will also have a significant charitable dimension. Every visitor will have the opportunity to support the Viki Foundation, which helps children battling cancer and their families.

Eleven-Year-Old Ondra Shows That Even in the Most Difficult Times, We Can Still Help Others

One of the faces of this year’s Health Days at CZU will be eleven-year-old Ondra Loubek, who is himself fighting leukaemia. Despite undergoing demanding treatment, he has maintained his optimism and continues to find ways to help others.

His life changed dramatically at the turn of 2024 and 2025, when doctors diagnosed him with leukaemia. What followed was a challenging period of chemotherapy, repeated medical examinations and hospital stays. Due to his weakened immune system and the need for isolation, he was also unable to spend time with his friends.

Yet even in these difficult circumstances, Ondra has never lost his positive outlook. He began creating videos featuring his little purple octopus and gradually built a large following on social media. Through his attitude and determination, he inspires courage not only in other children facing serious illnesses but also in adults.

Together with his mother, Ondra has also taken up baking homemade cookies, selling them to raise funds for children battling serious illnesses. And this year, those very cookies will be available on the CZU campus.

Cookies That Make a Difference: CZU Supports the Viki Foundation

One of the main attractions of this year’s Health Days will be the Viki Foundation’s charity stand, located in the entrance hall of the university canteen, in front of the CZU Shop.

The foundation has long been dedicated to helping children diagnosed with cancer and supporting their families through exceptionally difficult circumstances. Their stories remind us of the fundamental importance of health, solidarity and the willingness to help others.

On both days of the event, visitors to the CZU campus will be able to purchase homemade cookies baked by Ondra and his mother or donate directly to the Viki Foundation’s publicly transparent bank account.

Every cookie purchased can therefore represent a small gesture with a profound impact. Beyond financial assistance, it is also a way of expressing solidarity with families whose everyday lives have been profoundly affected by a child’s serious illness.

This year, Health Days at CZU will bring together two important ideas: taking responsibility for our own health and showing compassion for those going through difficult times.

Prevention That Can Save Lives

Powerful personal stories such as Ondra’s also highlight the importance of looking after our health and detecting illnesses at an early stage.

Alongside the charitable initiative, Health Days will therefore offer a wide range of preventive health screenings, expert consultations and practical workshops.

Visitors will have the opportunity to undergo skin mole checks, basic vision screening, vascular health assessments and spirometry tests. Nutritional counselling, body composition analysis, relaxing massages and activities promoting physical exercise and a healthy lifestyle will also be available.

Cancer prevention will be an important part of the programme. Members of Klub ŽAP, who have personal experience with cancer, will explain the importance of recognising early warning signs, attending regular preventive check-ups and performing breast and testicular self-examinations correctly. Visitors will also have the opportunity to practise these techniques using specially designed models.

Mental health will also receive special attention. The organisation Nepanikař will lead a workshop focusing on stress management, preventing mental exhaustion and practical techniques for maintaining psychological well-being.

The CZU Counselling Services Centre will present the psychological support, coaching and mediation services available to university employees.

Two Days to Do Something Good for Ourselves and Others

Health Days are more than just an opportunity to undergo preventive examinations or receive expert health advice. They also serve as a reminder that good health should never be taken for granted and that even seemingly small acts of kindness can make a tremendous difference in someone else’s life.

This year’s event, therefore, invites all university employees, students and other visitors to take some time not only to care for themselves but also to support those in need.

Health Days at CZU, taking place on 3 and 4 November 2026, offer an opportunity to have your health checked, discover inspiration for a healthier lifestyle and support people facing difficult circumstances by visiting the Viki Foundation’s charity stand. Sometimes, making a difference can begin with something as simple as buying a homemade cookie.
