The QS World University Rankings has published evaluations of individual universities in the world according to the fields in which they operate. A total of 51 fields of academic-research activity of universities were analyzed. CZU also ranked in two of them. As the ranking states on its website (direct English citation): “The QS World University Rankings by Subject are compiled annually to help prospective students identify the leading universities in a particular subject. Research citations, along with the results of major global surveys of employers and academics, are used to rank universities”.
CZU thus found itself among the leading universities in Agriculture and Forestry (in the broader subject area of Life Sciences and Medicine) and in the field of Environmental Sciences (in the broader subject area of Natural Sciences). Specifically in Agriculture and Forestry, CZU is in the 90th place in the world (out of 410 evaluated world universities, it is the best in the Czech Republic; other evaluated universities in the Czech Republic are in 200th-300th place in this field). In Environmental Sciences, CZU is at the 201st-250th place in the world out of 463 evaluated universities (Masaryk University shares the same place as CZU, Charles University ranked 301st - 350th).
This placement is the result of the work of the entire academic community. In 2019, we were only 151st-200th in Agriculture and Forestry, and we did not figure in this ranking at all in the field of Environmental Sciences.
