Basic information

The maximum number of participants is 25!

The Intensive Course of Czech Language and Culture for Beginners is a voluntary one-week course held BEFORE the beginning of the semester with a value of 2 ECTS.

The course is for in-person presence only!

For logistic and time reasons, this course is not offered to students who need a Czech visa to enter the country. Students applying for a visa (and, of course, all the other students) can choose any regular full-semester course of the Czech language held during the semester.

This Intensive Course of Czech Language and Culture for Beginners is a part of your Online Learning Agreement or Learning Agreement, into which it can be added later - after your arrival at CZU.

Syllabus

Duration of the course: 30 teaching hours

Course layout: 5 days - 6 teaching hours a day

Day 1: Jak se jmenuješ? Odkud jsi? (What is your name? Where are you from?). Introduction to the Czech language. Nationalities. Contact details. Conjugation of basic verbs. Declination of nouns. Czech Republic in a nutshell.

Day 2: Jak se dostanu...? Nevíte, kde je...? (How can I get to...? Do you know where ...?). Asking for directions. My address. My town. University campus. Explaining the map. Verb conjugation. Numbers. Prague, the capital city.

Day 3: Co si dáte? Co máte rád/a? (What will you have? What do you like?). In the restaurant. Czech meals and drinks. My national cuisine. Adjectives and adverbs. Czech history in a nutshell.

Day 4: Máš bratra nebo sestru? Co dělají? Kolik je ti let? (Do you have brothers or sisters? What do they do? How old are you?). Family members. Describing family. Occupations. Numbers. Adjectives - comparative and superlative. Declination of nouns. Sightseeing in the Czech Republic.

Day 5: Kolikátého je dnes? Kde se sejdeme? Jaké máš zájmy? (Where do we meet? What are your interests? What is the date today?). Days, months and seasons of the year. My birthday. Date of birth. Ordinal numbers. Verb conjugation. My interests. Describing  everyday activities. Revision. Czech literature.
