The Intensive Course of Czech Language and Culture for Beginners is a voluntary course. Participation is optional.
Students will receive a link to the online application form on 1 June 2026. LINK
Students who successfully complete the course will receive 2 ECTS credits. These credits do not count towards the standard 30 ECTS semester limit.

Basic Information
Maximum number of participants in one group: 22, for the WS 26/27 we open 3 groups. In case, you are a Double-degree student (under agreement of CZU), you must apply.
Course format: voluntary one-week course before the semester
ECTS value: 2 ECTS
For logistical reasons, this course is not available to students who need a Czech visa to enter the country. These students may choose regular full-semester Czech language courses during the semester instead.
This course can be added to your Learning Agreement after your arrival at CZU.

Course Structure and Syllabus
Duration: 30 teaching hours
Layout: 5 days, 6 teaching hours per day
- Day 1: Introduction to Czech language, nationalities, contact details, basic verbs, declination of nouns, and Czech Republic basics.
- Day 2: Asking for directions, my town, campus map, verb conjugation, numbers, and an overview of Prague.
- Day 3: Czech meals, restaurant phrases, adjectives, adverbs, and Czech history.
- Day 4: Family descriptions, occupations, adjectives, comparative forms, sightseeing in the Czech Republic.
- Day 5: Dates, birthdays, ordinal numbers, interests, daily activities, revision, and Czech literature.
