1. Block Your Bank Card(s) Immediately
Contact your bank(s) right away to block your debit or credit cards. Most banks offer 24/7 customer service hotlines for reporting lost or stolen cards. You can also block the cards in your phone application. If you're using foreign-issued cards, contact your home bank via international customer support.
2. Report the Loss to the Police
Filing a police report is important for both legal reasons and for insurance purposes. You can report the loss at any local police station in the Czech Republic.

3. Contact Your Insurance Company
If you have travel or personal property insurance, notify your insurer as soon as possible. A police report is often required for claim processing. Your insurance provider will guide you through the necessary steps.
4. Replace Lost Documents
Residence Permit Card
You are required to report the loss of your residence permit card to the Ministry of the Interior within 3 working days. You can find detailed steps and the necessary forms on their official site:
https://ipc.gov.cz/en/obligations-for-foreigners/loss-theft-or-damage-of-a-document/
Please contact the Welcome Centre to complete this step.
Passport/National ID Card/other documents
If your passport/national ID/any other documents from the country of origin is lost or stolen, contact your country’s embassy or consulate in the Czech Republic immediately. They can help you obtain an emergency travel document or begin the process for a replacement passport. A police report will likely be required.
Driving License
If you hold a Czech driving license, contact the municipal office with extended powers in your area to report the loss and apply for a replacement.
If your license was issued by another country, contact the respective national or embassy authorities to begin the replacement process.
Health Insurance Card
If you're insured in the Czech Republic (e.g., through VZP, OZP, etc.), contact your insurance provider or your faculty’s HR department. They can request a replacement card on your behalf.
5. Keep Copies and Records
Maintain digital and physical copies of:
-
The police report
-
All correspondence with authorities and companies
-
Replacement applications and confirmations
Also keep a copy of your passport in a secure but accessible location.
