On Tuesday, December 16, 2025, in Karolinum, President Petr Pavel, in the presence of the Minister of Education, Youth and Sports Robert Plaga, presented appointment decrees to 69 new university professors. At the proposal of the Scientific Council of the Czech University of Life Sciences, the first vice-dean of the Faculty of Technology of CZU, Rostislav Chotěborský, was nominated for the highest academic title.
Prof. Ing. Rostislav Chotěborský, Ph.D., was awarded a professorship in the field of Agricultural Technology and Mechanization. The Vice-Dean for Science, Research and Development of the Faculty of Technology at the Czech University of Life Sciences serves as a teacher at the Department of Materials and Mechanical Engineering Technology. He has been a professional assistant at this department since 2005 and was promoted there in 2010.
He is the guarantor of many subjects, including Materials Science, Perspective Materials, Project Management, and Interaction of Particulate Matter for doctoral study programs. He is also the investigator of prestigious grant projects and has an extensive publishing activity in high-impact journals.
During the ceremonial presentation of professorial decrees, the Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, Robert Plaga, congratulated everyone on achieving a high life goal and at the same time noted: “I would like you to take away today how to approach the position of professor. A professor is not only a co-author, but also a leader. And also someone who can motivate younger colleagues and build effective teams. Therefore, I would be delighted for you to become apostles of the approach to professorial titles at your faculties, and I hope that this approach will become the standard at Czech universities," said Minister Plaga.
The highest academic rank of professor was awarded to new personalities who fulfilled all the established professional and qualification requirements. The appointment represents an appreciation of their long-term work, professional contribution, and significant role in the development of individual fields and the university environment. The newly appointed professors are thus ranked among the leading personalities in the academic sphere, contributing to the development of education, science, and research.
