The Rector's Office Department for International Grant Support Office at the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague once again organized the Pitching & Public Speaking workshop after a two-year hiatus, aimed primarily at doctoral and postdoctoral students. The two-day workshop, which took place on September 30 and October 1, 2026, was attended by young researchers from all faculties at the Czech University of Life Sciences (ČZU).
The workshop was led by Jelle De Wit, a performer, theater artist, and instructor with experience in physical theater, public speaking, and communication. His approach combines the principles of storytelling, voice work, movement, and nonverbal communication.
The goal of the workshop was to help participants communicate their own research more effectively and with greater confidence - whether during a conference presentation, when introducing a project proposal, or when communicating with an audience outside their own field of expertise. Participants worked with their own research or project ideas and learned how to structure, simplify, and present them in a way that would engage their audience.
The workshop is one of the activities through which the International Grant Support Office seeks to create opportunities for the professional development of researchers at CULS and to support them not only in preparing international projects but also in developing other skills important for their scientific careers.
