On Sunday, December 7th, we gathered with our international researchers for a creative afternoon at Kafe & Hrnky | Café and Ceramics Studio. After a short walk through Kampa and past the iconic Lennon Wall, we arrived at the studio, where a relaxed and friendly workshop awaited us.
The session focused on painting pre-made pottery. Participants selected a mug or a bowl and learned how to decorate it using ceramic glazes. Painting on glazed surfaces is quite different from working with paper or canvas — the colors behave unpredictably, may blend or dry quickly, and often change their shade after firing. This makes the process both creative and a bit surprising, as the result is revealed only after the piece goes into the kiln.
As you can see in the photos, everyone left with a unique ceramic piece — sometimes perfectly neat, sometimes with unexpected color transitions or soft edges created by the glaze. These small imperfections are part of the charm and make each item truly original.
The afternoon provided a pleasant opportunity to relax, be creative, and meet colleagues from different backgrounds outside the work environment. We thank all participants for joining us and look forward to our next event.
