Our Czech language courses for international employees started last week, bringing Czech conversations back to the Rectorate for another semester. We are very happy to see both familiar faces continuing their Czech journey and new participants taking their first steps into a language where even a seemingly innocent word like čtvrtek can feel like an achievement.
This semester, the Welcome Centre is offering two levels: Complete Beginners and Beginners Plus. This means that even those starting entirely from scratch can now join us and build their Czech from the very first Dobrý den.
The classes are once again taking place at the Rectorate and are led by our lecturer, Kristýna Zuzaňáková, who will be guiding participants through the practical Czech they need for everyday life – from understanding what is happening around them to feeling a little more confident in shops, restaurants, public transport or conversations with Czech colleagues.
Learning Czech may have its challenges (we won’t pretend that seven grammatical cases are there just for fun), but every new word makes life here a little easier – and opens another small window into Czech culture and the people around us.
We wish all our participants plenty of enthusiasm, patience and those satisfying little moments when something you have heard a hundred times suddenly makes sense.
Hodně štěstí – and enjoy the semester!
