The Danubius Awards were given to fourteen young scientists from the Danube region on 27 October 2015 during a gala evening in the framework of the conference “Scientific Support to the Danube Region”, at the Joint Research Centre of University of Ulm. In his acceptance speech, Dr. Kabutey acknowledged the privilege to be amongst the awardees. Dr Kabutey was born in Ghana in 1980 and received his PhD from CZU Faculty of Engineering in 2014.
Currently, he is a senior researcher at CZU Faculty of Engineering, specialising in renewable energy resources and bioeconomy. His work includes descriptions of pressure mechanics of loose oil seeds or plant seeds, such as rape, sunflower, jatropha and babasu palm kernel oil. The research is important for the industrial sector, i.e. in the construction of spindle shaped oil presses for more efficient oil extraction. According to Dr. Kabutey, “the effective use of renewable energy resources is no doubt as important in the Danube Region, as in rural regions of developing countries.”
