Advent at CZU means Christmas markets, workshops, acts of kindness, and goodwill.

Christmas decorations, Advent wreaths, candlesticks, mistletoe, and a variety of goodies will be offered at the Christmas markets at CZU again this year. They start tomorrow, Tuesday, December 2nd, in the area in front of the auditorium. In the first week of Advent, there will also be space in the auditorium for those interested in registering as bone marrow donors or for donations to the National Food Collection.

The Christmas markets at CZU will welcome visitors from December 2nd to 4th, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. In addition to traditional props, they will offer a range of wooden products, CZU merchandise, including gloves, hats, mugs, socks, and a whole range of delicacies. Among them are chili sauces, jams from Palíto, wine from the CZU Winery, university beer Suchdolský Jeník, and products from the Food Pavilion. To warm up, in addition to coffee and tea, there will be warm mead, hot cider with fruit, warm apple with cinnamon, mulled wine, and punch. The popular churros will not be missing either.

Food and drugstore collection for Food Banks

On Tuesday, December 2nd and 3rd, CZU will once again participate in the Giving Tuesday aid campaign — World Generosity Day. This day is the symbolic opposite of Black Friday. Unlike the day of material abundance, Giving Tuesday provides an opportunity to show solidarity with those who are less fortunate. CZU participated in the National Food Collection for several years, and in previous years, university employees and students donated 170 kg of aid. “The fourth food collection is now underway at CZU. Let´s make Advent and Christmas better for people in need, abandoned seniors, families in crisis, single parents, and homeless people. Even a little help counts,” says CZU aid coordinator Anna Tvrdíková.

The food collection is an act of solidarity through which everyone can help most simply – by donating non-perishable food and drugstore items. These can be canned goods, long-life milk, sugar, pasta, instant soups, oil, and basic children´s medicine.

Donate clothes – swap

As part of the Christmas workshops, a charity bazaar takes place in the hall´s foyer. The exchange with Freeshop is scheduled for December 2nd–3rd from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Everyone can bring clothes, shoes, dishes, books, or other small items that they no longer use, and at the same time take away anything that brings them happiness, completely free of charge. Give things a second life and, for example, breathe new life into a piece for your wardrobe.

Recruitment to the Czech National Registry of Bone Marrow Donors

The event will take place in the foyer of the auditorium on December 3rd, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration is free and easy. It takes only a moment, and can be completed by any healthy individual aged 18–35. All you have to do is fill out a questionnaire and wipe your mouth with a toothbrush. Your turn for a bone marrow donation will come only if a suitable patient for whom you are an ideal match is found.

Christmas Workshops
CZU, in cooperation with the Student Association and ReTaška, invites everyone to workshops on making sustainable gifts. They will take place in the auditorium on December 2nd and 3rd from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Those interested will be able to visit a total of nine different workshops for free.
For example, they may create mini oil perfumes, coral angels, candles, and wrapping paper from bags, as well as various tea blends. Or perhaps paper decorations, ReTaška, bath salt, and lip balm. The workshops take place at set times or until the materials run out.
At CZU, it is also possible to buy a Christmas tree from the university forest during Advent. They will be available in the area in front of the auditorium from December 22nd, always between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Carp from the university ponds will be available there on December 22nd and 23rd from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
