CZU Forests cordially invites you to the traditional Fishing Festival 2024, held on Saturday, 2nd November, at Vyžlovský pond. This event is a unique opportunity to experience the atmosphere of a fishing harvest, watch skilled fishermen in action, purchase fresh fish, and enjoy a fun-filled day for the whole family.
Preparations for such an extensive fishing harvest as the one in Vyžlovský pond are taking place well in advance, especially from a logistical point of view and the organization of the program for the public. Fishermen have been preparing since September to ensure sufficient personnel, functional tools, and equipment. Around 60 people participate in the fishing harvest, including students of the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences and external helpers. It takes approximately two weeks to prepare the pond for harvesting, including starting the water.
The pond's population, part of the Jevany cascade, is diverse. The main fish is carp, which makes up two-thirds of the cast and is known for its high quality. Thanks to the sandy bottom of the pond, the carp has delicious and fragrant meat. Grass carp, walleye, bream, roach, tench, and predatory fish such as pike, zander, perch, and catfish will also be available at the stalls. We expect the harvest of around 200 quintals of fish, while approximately 80 quintals will be sold directly during the harvest. The rest of the fish will go to the boxes and be available at the Christmas sale at the Forest Service of the CZU Forests in Jevany.
From 2nd December, we will offer Christmas trees. The sale of Christmas fish will start on 20th December in Jevany, 22nd December at the castle in Kostelec nad Černými lesy, and 23rd December at the CZU campus. Detailed information can be found on the CZU Forests website and the CZU Forests Facebook page.
Come with your family or friends to the Fishing Festival in the beautiful nature of the Jevany area and become part of this popular tradition!
