The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), the prestigious and one of the oldest rankings evaluating universities' research activity (also known as the Shanghai Ranking), has published new data for 2022. According to them, CZU ranked in joint 4th place in the Czech Republic (together with CTU). Worldwide, CZU ranked 801st - 900th out of approximately 2,500 evaluated universities (there are over 30,000 universities in the world).
Of the Czech universities, Charles University (301st – 400th), Masaryk University (401st – 500th), and Palacký University in Olomouc (701st – 800th) took the first three places. In total, eight Czech universities ranked in the top 1,000 universities.
CZU appeared in the mentioned ranking for the first time in 2018, when it was ranked joint 5th in the Czech Republic (and 901st-1000th worldwide). The move up the ranking within five years proves our university's growing quality of research.
Note: In addition to graduating or employed Nobel Prize or Fields Medal winners, in the case of ARWU, publications in the journals Nature and Science are key for evaluation. The ranking also evaluates the number of highly cited authors, the number of articles indexed in the Web of Science database, and the publication performance per person affiliated with the evaluated university.
