Tramín root vintage 2023 from CZU Winery made its way to the Wine Salon

The winning campaign for the products of the university vineyard in Chloumek near Mělník continues. The CZU Winery director received the gold medal of the National Wine Competition of the Czech Republic for Tramín kořenný, Czech regional wine 2023. The „golden“ wine thus finds itself in the elite company of the Wine Salon and will be exhibited in Valtice throughout the year among the hundred best wines of the country.

„Our winery has been a source of great joy for the university for a long time. We can boast of products that spread the good name of ČZU not only at home but also abroad, thanks to the constant care of the director of this center Štěpán Weitosch. I congratulate the good vineyard manager and wish him many similar successes," comments the Rector of CZU Petr Sklenička the award. Inclusion in the Salon of Wines is the most significant national award a winemaker can receive. For CZU winery director Štěpán Weitosch, such success means profiting from hard work and consistent care for the university vineyard.

„I appreciate being included in the Wine Salon, it's a great joy. Among the hundred wines from all over the country, in this elite company, there are only three wines from the wine region of Bohemia; in addition to ours, there are two more from the Mělník viticulture sub-region. This success is all the more valuable. At the same time, it confirms that I am doing my job well, and also the strongest motivation," notes Štěpán Weitosch.

The successful series of CZU Winary products is thus rounded off with a gold medal in the National Wine Competition of the Czech Republic. Tramín kořenný 2023 was nominated to the Wine Salon last year in the National Wine Competition of the Czech Wine Region as part of the winning collection. With this award, cellar master Štěpán Weitosch followed up on previous successes, including a large gold medal for Rhenish Riesling 2019 PS in the King of Wines competition.

The winning collection from last year's national competition comprised ten wines, the average rating of which was an incredible 88.03 points, and included two large gold and five gold medals.

Last year was a very successful year for products from university vineyards. In addition to the gold medals and the winning collection in the National Wine Competition, the CZU Winery also won a large gold medal in the King of Wines of the Czech Republic competition for Rhenish Riesling 2019 PS. Completing the winning streak is the gold medal for the Tramín root vintage 2023 and its inclusion as one of three Bohemia wines in the Salon of Wines.
