A job fair can jumpstart your career

Fat Thursday marks the end of carnival festivities, and as tradition dictates, people should enjoy feasting and drinking on this day. This movable holiday fell on February/27th, and for the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague students, it was a double feast. One awaited them at the historically first university Fat Tuesday, another in the form of an abundant offer of job market opportunities. The menu was varied.

“A job fair is always a great opportunity for students to see what kind of world can await them after school, to arrange an internship, or to find cooperation for their final thesis. As the classic said: You never know what you will taste,” notes Přemysl Gubáni, head of the CZU Career Center.

On Thursday, February 27, 2025, students were introduced to potential employers at several locations on campus – in the Round Hall, in the buildings of the Faculty of Economics and Management, the Faculty of Engineering, and in the Woodworking Pavilion. Everywhere, students could meet exhibitors from companies that could be their first place of work after graduation.

Around a thousand students arrived at the Round Hall alone on Thursday, where thirty companies and institutions presented themselves. There was a marathon of lectures all day long, launched by the Czech Environmental Inspectorate on What it is like to poach endangered species.

The SANDOZ Global Competence Center manages the processes of this pharmaceutical company throughout Europe. At the fair, students could learn what kind of hands they need and what projects they are doing.

Agrotec, a major seller of agricultural machinery and technologies, presented current available trends in precision agriculture.

EURES offered further helpful advice and knowledge. Interested parties learned that thanks to it, they could receive support in the Czech language everywhere in the EU and that it was possible to obtain additional support for young Europeans.

The EURO Center presented work for EU institutions as a great opportunity and an area where Czech experts in agriculture, nature conservation, and administration have a great chance of succeeding.

Those thinking about the Work&Travel program in the USA and did not know if they would find the courage to take the plunge, the people from CZECHUS willingly explained what awaited them and how they could enjoy it.

Specialists from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic gave a presentation on food law and quality.

During the fair, there were company presentations, where students learned a lot of interesting things. And, of course, the Czech Army was also present this year.

At the Faculty of Engineering, companies that may be interesting for their graduates presented themselves. Among them, for example, Škoda auto or Dopravní podnik hl. m. Prague.

The Faculty of Economics and Management and the Woodworking Pavilion prepared a similarly specific selection of companies considering the study programs. The job fair offered a wide range of opportunities, attracting many students.
