The adventure of science and discovering its endless secrets. That is VědaFest, which will transform Dejvice's Vítězné náměstí into one large open-air laboratory on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, between 8:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. The Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague will also have its exhibition here, as is tradition.
VědaFest has gained popularity among the general public mainly because everyone can experience a unique day full of experiments, inventions, and interactive experiences. Young and old ones, students, and curious visitors who are not required to go to school can experiment and see how science changes the world. The experience is all the more interesting because they can talk about everything with real scientists.
Among the more than sixty exhibitors at VědaFest this year, there are ten universities, and ČZU is among the traditional ones. In competition with 114 exhibitions, each faculty prepared the best a university can offer at a science show. And what topics is ČZU coming up with this time?
Science and precision farming
This modern, science-based approach to farming integrates advanced technology and data to optimize production while protecting the environment. It uses sensors, GPS, satellite imagery, drones, and advanced analytics to monitor soil, crop, and weather conditions. Based on the data obtained, it is possible to apply fertilizers, pesticides, and irrigation in a targeted manner, thereby increasing efficiency, reducing costs, and minimizing impacts on nature. With the advent of digitalization, telematics, robotics, and artificial intelligence, the concept of Agriculture 4.0 is developing, which combines scientific knowledge with automated, data-driven management of agricultural processes. The goal is long-term sustainable, ecological, and economically advantageous food production supported by the latest technologies.
Invisible life of the forest
Discover the secrets that are almost hidden from our eyes. The forest is not just trees and animals. There is a fascinating and often invisible life taking place under its surface. Come and explore how science reveals the hidden stories under our feet. What will you see, and what will you try?
Hydrogel tablets in action: Discover how they help retain water in the forest and how we can use them in practice. Mushroom mycelium - forest internet: See how mushrooms connect the forest ecosystem and what importance their research has for the future of the forest.
The cork borer under a magnifying glass: Get to know this small beetle up close and find out why it is crucial to monitor its behavior.
The tick - an application for safe movement in the forest: Learn to use modern technologies to protect your health.
Get more than just knowledge! Discover economics that you enjoy.
Do you think economics is just about numbers and boring graphs? Come and be surprised! An experience awaits you where you learn without even noticing it. You will estimate the value of coins using just your touch, assemble a banknote like a puzzle, spin the wheel of knowledge in interactive quizzes, and strategically compete in the Dutch auction. For each activity, you collect game currency and decide how to use it – more knowledge = more rewards. You will discover that economics is not just a school subject - it is a skill for life. And this is where you can acquire it fun, bright, and your way.
Without healthy plants, there is no healthy food and feed
Become a plant doctor for a while - a doctor for flowers - and try out how to identify plant diseases and pests and how to subsequently protect them.
VědaFest combines enthusiasm for science with interactive workshops, lectures, and experiments for all generations. Lectures take place in the morning hours in the auditorium of the University of Technology, everything else at the stands on Vítězné náměstí. Discover the diverse world of experiments and have fun on Wednesday, June 18, between 8:30 and 18:30!
