Research.com, a leading academic platform for scientists and researchers, has just published the 2026 edition of its ranking of top scientists in the field of environmental sciences. In the Czech Republic, first place was awarded to CZU professor Jan Vymazal from the Department of Applied Ecology at the Faculty of Environmental Sciences. He also received the Research.com Environmental Sciences in Czechia Leader Award 2026.
The ranking is based on the D-index, a discipline-specific H-index that accounts for publications and citation within the given field of research. Only leading scientists with a D-index of at least 30 for academic publications in environmental sciences are included in the ranking. Professor Jan Vymazal has long been among the most-cited Czech scientists. His lifelong scientific focus has been on wetlands. In particular, he studies the use of constructed wetlands for wastewater treatment and carbon storage in natural wetland systems. “I am pleased that my publication activity contributes to the fact that wetland issues are highly relevant and attract considerable interest,” says the most-cited Czech scientist.
We warmly congratulate Professor Vymazal. His top ranking is a tremendous achievement for him personally, as well as for Czech science as a whole.
