The CZU winery has one gold and three silver awards from the 2026 Wine Salon.

Another champion from the CZU Winery in Chloumek near Mělník has made it to the top 100 of the highest-quality wines in the Czech Republic this year. At the nationwide Wine Salon, the local Riesling 2023, batch number 6/23, won a gold medal. It has thus been ranked among the best wines from Bohemia and Moravia, which will be on display at the tasting exhibition in the cellars of the Valtice Chateau throughout the year.

The Wine Salon is the final round of the National Wine Competition, in which experts select the best wine with the title of Champion every year, as well as the Category Winner and the Best Collection. The hundred highest-quality wines of the competition are then awarded the gold medal of the Wine Salon of the Czech Republic. The competition itself is followed by the year-round public tasting Wine Salon. This year, the exhibition of the best hundred wines of Bohemia and Moravia in the cellars of the state chateau in Valtice will also include the product of the CZU Winery, Riesling 2023. However, the university´s winemaking can also boast of other successes. The silver medal from the Wine Salon goes to Riesling 2022, Riesling 2020, and Pinot blanc 2023, all produced by the CZU Winery in Chloumek near Mělník.

The Wine Salon is the most prestigious competition for Czech and Moravian winemakers, and the wines that professional wine tasters consider to be candidates for a gold medal are clearly the “best of the best.” Wine produced by CZU has been awarded here several times in recent years.

“The exceptional quality of our wines is a permanent asset of the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague. We are also proud that their success is due to our graduate Štěpán Weitosch, who has been taking care of the university vineyard for more than twenty years and is an invaluable example for current students,” says CZU Rector Petr Sklenička, adding that standing out in the competition of first-class wines from across the country means real success. Being included in the top hundred brings great prestige among connoisseurs. And of course, it is the best recommendation for wine lovers.
