University has three new Deans

Prof. Ing. Iva Langrová, CSc., will be the first woman to become the head of FAFNR. The Faculty of Engineering will be led by doc. Ing. Jiří Mašek, Ph.D., and Ing. Martin Pelikán, Ph.D. was elected the Dean of FEM for another four years.

Prof. Ing. Iva Langrová, CSc., was previously the Vice-dean for study and educational activities, and her professional interests focus on parasitology and epidemiology of parasites of farm animals and wildlife. She is a member of many important Czech and foreign parasitological societies.

Doc. Ing. Jiří Mašek, Ph.D., graduated from the university Faculty of Engineering, where he continued his doctoral studies at the Department of Agricultural Machinery. During his PhD studies, he began working as an assistant at the department, and later as an assistant professor. In 2013 he habilitated in the field of Technology and Mechanization of Agriculture. He became the Vice-dean for educational and pedagogical activities in 2009. As part of his foreign activities, he worked for the University of Tapanuli in Indonesia, and in 2007 he received a prestigious IFAJ-Alltech Young Leaders in Agricultural Journalism Award. In 2015 he was selected for the CIGR Agricultural Mechanization Next Leaders program.

Ing. Martin Pelikán, Ph.D., studied Computer Science at the university Faculty of Economics and Management, where he also completed his Ph.D. in the field of Data Processing and Mathematical Modeling in Agriculture. In 2006 he became the Vice-dean for study and pedagogical activities, and since 2012 he has been the Head of the Information Engineering Department. He focuses on system engineering, project management, decision-making support systems, and information system design. He is a member of six Scientific Councils and of the Czech Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
