Harvest Festival 2024 at CZU Farm Estates in Lány

Last year's Harvest Festival ("Dožínky”) at CZU Farm Estates, which was the premiere event in the modern history of CZU, was a success, thanks to you, everyone who joined us and celebrated the harvest with us. We appreciate your favour and are pleased that the Harvest Festival at CZU Farm Estates is becoming a tradition.

We cordially invite you again to Lány, where on Friday, 6th September, we will introduce you to our agricultural technology and various species and breeds of animals. We have also prepared a varied menu of refreshments for you, and there will be an entertainment program on stage that will please both children and adults. Come and explore the magic of agriculture, get to know CZU faculties, taste our products, and spend a pleasant afternoon in the beautiful environment of CZU Farm Estates. We look forward to seeing you this Friday from two o'clock!

Farming at CZU Farm Estates

CZU Farm Estates cover approximately 2,600 hectares of agricultural land, where we are intensively engaged in cultivating various crops and breeding farm animals. In 2023, we grew cereals such as wheat, barley, and triticale on 1220 hectares. We cultivated oil crops, mainly rapeseed, on 534 hectares, while legumes spread over 107 hectares.

Bulk fodder such as alfalfa, silage corn, rye, and haylage peas were harvested from ??793 hectares, and pastures and hay meadows are located on another 128 hectares. "The atypical spring weather, when we experienced summer temperatures in March and prolonged frosts in April, had a negative impact on the yields of some crops, especially rapeseed. Rapeseed yield per hectare this year was less than 3 tons per hectare, which is below average. For cereals, however, we managed to achieve the average yields of the last five years: wheat 7.54 t/ha, winter barley 6.42 t/ha, spring barley 5.75 t/ha, and triticale 6.88 t/ha,” says the CZU Farm Estates director Ing. Jiří Zajíček and adds: "the good weather during the harvest allowed us to harvest quickly and on time, which had a positive effect on the quality of wheat, which we produced in food quality in a total volume of 4984 tons.”

Livestock production and its future

In livestock production this year, we decided to focus on improving the living conditions of animals and increasing efficiency. We are investing in modernising feed storage areas, improving breeding quality, and increasing productivity to maintain a high milk production level with fewer animals. In 2023, we delivered 6698 thousand litres of milk to the dairy, and we will continue to strive to achieve these results.

Our participation in the traditional animal exhibition in Kralovice again attracted many visitors and confirmed the quality of our breeding. We look forward to another successful year and meeting you at Harvest Festival 2024 in Lány!
